So my two weeks vacation is over and tomorrow its back to my job as a micro electronics engineer. Back to the daily grind, and back the the whining customers, lol.
Anyway to relate this blog more to Kingdom of Riches, let me tell you about some of the things I have been up to the last two weeks. Some of the coding I've worked on has already been added and announced to the game. Others are being tested for me by the staff, and a few more are sitting on my local copy of the game, being tested ready for release the next weeks.
One of my major changes I have been working on is probably very boring for everyone, but I have been working on removing the crons from the game and creating a add on that lets the game run without crons. I am not 100% sure this will be added like this, I want to do a few more speed tests on my test server first. Either way security considerations in mind the current script will be a lot more secure from hackers, as no matter if they do find a way into it, they still cannot make cron jobs run, as they depend totally on the server times, so thats when they will run anyway. I am very happy with this code so far, will make editing and testing cron jobs a lot easier for me.
I will also be releasing a newspaper. This will work with the existing BB code to allow us to have articles submitted by our members along with news, gossip, interviews and the such. Also I have added the ability for 5 adverts that game users can submit for a cost, to advertise their clans etc. These will show 5 adverts randomly until the advert expires. I think this will be a nice addition to the game and will give an extra element to get people involved with KoR community stuff.
I'd just like to make a mention of another game we have called Romecom, it is based in the roman times, and the goal was to make a game that was not so easy to level with or gain over dramatic stats on, we have seen other games do this, a lot based on the MC engine, which have some outrageously stupid levels in them, and simply mind blowing amounts of money, that they just get boring. We hope that this game will last a lot longer than those types.
Well thank you for reading this yet again, I hope to have more to say in a few days or so.
