Vista Sloooooow down

Back from a day at the office. We were trying to work out why our software worked on XP and not on Vista, on the same PC. I thought maybe its a driver thing, you hear so much about driver problems in Vista, but no all that worked. Then I decided it may be the delay functions I am using, but no they all clocked correctly according to my debug logs.

So this afternoon I sat down to add the ability to slow down the data transfer through the USB to see if this was an issue. Well at around 30mins before leaving the office this proved to be correct. Software transfer across the USB was slower on Vista than on the XP partition. On the same PC. So Vista is slower? How? Why?

I'd heard so much stuff about Vista, not got it on any of my development PC's here at home so not had any major experience with it until today, but this just surprised the hell out of me. How could they have screwed USB transfers up? USB hasn't changed from what I know. Its just another reason for me to wait for the next Windows release, or to find that new OS that will overtake Windows. Luckily for me my next project is on linux ;)
