Tonight I started looking around again at new dedicated hosting for my websites. I want something with multi cores, seen a quad core deal, but costs 1100 uk pounds, which is about what I pay now, but for a full year rather than quarterly. Only snag is see is they say they use their own control panel. I like cpanel and whm for hostings. Its what I am used to and so don't really feel like learning all over again.
The package looks great, but then most of them do. I fired off an email to sales a few hours ago, no reply yet but I give them until tomorrow evening, no reply, then no sale. Simple. I am after good support, and if their sales department cannot be bothered to answer my questions then that shows me they have no chance of replying to me when there is a problem.
That is the problem I have found. Crap support, high prices and terrible information on the hosting websites. Also you find that tons of extra's that make the dedicated useful are left out of the original pricing are only told to you when you start signing up. Thats annoying, very annoying.
So I put it out to everyone who reads here, and hopefully anyone who may drop by. Is there a good, cheap, reliable, Dedicated server hosting, using WHM/Cpanel, with support that emails back immediately, that allows someone to pay for 12 months, using a modern fast Dual/Quad core processor, with unlimited or large bandwidth, hard-drive space around 80gig or more, that you would recommend.
I've been looking since last August, with two aborted attempts to swap. One I did swap and they deleted the sites after 1 hour because they said I violated their policy on no gambling games, even though it a PBBG :) And the other I setup and found half the software was missing, their response, oh thats another $399, sod that.
Are my experiences rare, or is everyone having the same problem. What would I need to make my own server, my own hosting, in my office. Were would I even start looking. Its getting that way, yes, so desperate to find a hosting plan that actually does what its meant to do.
Oh well, speak again tomorrow. I'll keep you informed on the email from this host.
